I wanted a large carafe that kept coffee hot all day. I bought this model because it had the best heat retention numbers on the Zojirushi website, I tested this carafe myself and it out performed the stated heat retention numbers. It really does keep liquids hot for a long time. Only 4 stars because what they don't tell you is that the "Brew Thru feature" doesn't allow you to completely close the carafe for transport. If it's full and it tips, there will be a spill. I might have been slightly better off with Zojirushi Premium Thermal 1.85 liter Carafe, Brushed Stainless Steel, , I'm not sure. Overall, very good product and just what they say it is.
